FutureCare Cherrywood Chef Wins Crab Cooking Contest at the National Hard Crab Derby
Crisfield, MD--August 29, 2014--FutureCare Cherrywood's Chef Frank Leake won first prize for his crab-and-strawberry salad at the National Hard Crab Derby's 50th Annual Crab Cooking Contest. The event was held over Labor Day weekend at the First Baptist Church in Crisfield. A panel of food experts judged the contest entries in three categories: appetizers, soup/salad, and main dish/crab cakes. Frank's dish won first prize in the Soup/Salad category and also won Best Overall Presentation. Each dish was judged on overall flavor, crab flavor, appearance, originality, texture, clear directions, ease of preparation, ease of serving, and appropriate use of crab meat. Frank received a plaque and a cash prize for his achievement.
