FutureCare Cherrywood Wins "Taste of the Town" Competition

APRIL 7, 2016 — Pikesville, MD — Healthcare facilities are not usually known for their fine cuisine. That's why everyone was surprised to hear that FutureCare Cherrywood, took home top honors at yesterday's 5th Annual Taste of Pikesville Competition. The event was hosted by the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce and showcased over 40 area restaurants, food vendors, vineyards and breweries. Due to FutureCare Cherrywood's win last year at the Reisterstown Chamber of Commerce's Taste of the Town, they were invited to participate in the Pikesville event.

Celebrity judges included: Charley Crowson (WMAR-TV), Downtown Diane, Jeni Mann (Baltimore Style), Ron Matz (WJZ-TV), and Kit Waskom Pollard (Freelance Food Writer).

The winning dish was created by FutureCare Cherrywood's renowned Chef Frank Leake, Dietary Manager Brian Balonis, and Dietary aide Kory Lewis. It was a sumptuous chocolate bread pudding with warm Kahlua cappuccino sauce.

One attendee asked Brian Balonis if they really serve this at Cherrywood. He replied, " Yes! Just because you need rehab or nursing care, doesn't mean you can't eat well. Mealtime is something you should look forward to!" Jessica Normington, Executive Director Pikesville Chamber of Commerce, says, "The Pikesville Chamber was thrilled to have FutureCare participate this year's Taste of Pikesville. Congratulations for winning Best Taste! We look forward to partnering with you in the future."

FutureCare Cherrywood has always strived for excellence in food service. They source the freshest and healthiest products from local farms and they have a resident garden club which grows over 28 varieties of vegetables. With this win, Cherrywood is officially one of the best places to dine in town, and the staff couldn't be more thrilled.
