Nurse Education Week - Meet Peggy Gunzelman
This week is Nurse Education Week, a week to spotlight postsecondary education programs as well as specialized training programs for practicing nurses. Nursing education also focuses on the values and perspectives that health care professionals possess to improve patient and facility care and outcomes. Today, we'd like to introduce you to Peggy Gunzelman, the Director of Education for FutureCare Health and Management.
"I have been a nurse for 38 years with most of my career in long term care. Every moment of my career has set me up to be where I am today as an Education Director. Teaching touches every aspect of nursing. To educate is to mentor, train, instruct, cultivate, inform, improve, enlighten, and develop not just the learner, but the person. Education provides opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills that enable people to reach their full potential.
The role of a nurse educator is diverse, fulfilling, and challenging. Being able to work for FutureCare has been very rewarding. I have been given the opportunity to learn, to be creative, develop and progress in an industry that I love and am passionate about. The company aligns with my values and standards and is very supportive of education. There is a genuine spirit of cooperation and teamwork within the company.
The Education team is tireless in their efforts to educate and support staff. They are successful and skillful in providing education to staff and engaging staff in their own learning. This team supports each other and displays integrity in the work that they do every day. The role of a nurse educator is demanding and difficult, but I feel honored to be a part of this team of educators that are compassionate, caring people."
We can't thank you enough for all you do for FutureCare, Peggy!
